ELECTION DAY – (Decades: A Journey of African-American Romance 1970’s) Keith Thomas Walker ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this addition to the Decades of Romance Series. Author Keith Thomas Walker did a phenomenal job in creating a moving story that picks up the Civil Rights Movement post 60’s. From the compelling storyline to the original poetry, Election Day will resonate with many, especially those who remember the Civil Rights struggle of the 60’s and 70’s. The setting is the author’s favorite town of Overbrook Meadows. It features Leo Sullivan and Carla Hunter as the protagonists. Their tender love story evolves as they work together to desegregate the high schools in Overbrook Meadows. I like how the author intertwined nonfiction with fiction to tell a very compelling story of grassroots involvement in the struggle. There are some tense and emotional scenes that enhance the story. I especially like how he uses poetry to introduce some of the chapters. Keith Thomas Walker’s poetry is dynamic! ELECTION DAY is a captivating story, and I highly recommend it.
